Hi Viviana,

Great career choice. Schedule an appointment with your school counselor to start taking classes that can prepare you for college. If you start early it can help you understand regular Economics and Micro-Economics which is related to an accounting major. Also take Algebra classes but mainly focus on keeping your grades up.
I was a business major in college and one of my classes I had to complete was business statistic, macro-economic and I and II accounting. It was a challenge for me but I was able to study with my peers. All I can say if you are passionate about accounting try understand the logic about accounting. For example the business legers you can find those online.

Another challenge I have for you is to ask your parents to open you a checking account. This is a great practice to track down your spending.

Good luck to you in your future career.

When it comes to high school class selection you shouldn't have to worry about what classes you need to take to get into a college accounting program, just take a normal class schedule and keep your GPA high.

With what classes would help prepare you, I would suggest taking any math, economics, and business classes that are offered.

Hi Viviana,

I would agree with the other comments that a high GPA and good SAT/ ACT is what will help you get into a good school. When I was a senior in high school, I took two accounting classes as well as a marketing class to see what I liked / didn't like. This helped me make my decision once I was in college to choose accounting for my major. I hope this helps and best of luck to you!
