What would be necessary to become a Real Estate broker?

My name is Yamelyn I'm 17 years old I'm currently attending Job Corps in El Paso, Texas and will soon be attending an Office Administration class. I took a business class at the last school I was attending and learned much useful information but I would like to know what else would be necessary such as skills or education to become a successful realtor. #business

You can go to the TREC site for specifics: https://www.trec.texas.gov/become-licensed/individual-real-estate-broker

Also, I have attended Champions Real Estate school and they offer options to take the courses online or in person.

To become a Real Estate Agent in Texas, you have to: 1) Be at least 18 years old 2) Complete 180 hours of required education 3) Citizen of the United States or lawfully admitted alien. I just completed the 180 hours myself, so prepare to dedicate time in your day for studying purposes but the good news is most of the educational offerings are offered online, so you can even study on your phone/tablet. This helps if you are on the go and have sometime to dedicate while waiting for an appointment, for example. Being a real estate agent/broker requires self motivation, good people skills, good organizational skills and promptness. It is a rewarding career if you can master these skills. Good luck!

Hi Yamelyn - The following website will provide you the details. You can also contact different brokers e.g. Re/Max, Weichert, etc and get advice.

My wife is a real estate agent in VA. The work can be sporadic. It is always great a have a full-time job to support your bills initially until you get the hang of being an agent. I hope this helps.
