Diego’s Answer

Hi Shahmir.

Some colleges offer degrees that combine Computer Science, with 3D Modeling, some physics etc. Try to look for "game design degrees". But, more in general, degrees in Computer Science or Art will allow you to join a company that develop games. Remember that today games are often built by large teams, where people cover different roles: good games may have the complexity of good movies.

Good luck!
Diego

If you're interested in the art side of 3D gaming, make sure you look at schools that are accredited. Colleges like the Savannah College of Art and Design offer bachelors and masters degrees in Interactive Design and Game Development that cover all the different sides of game art (3D modeling, animation, UI design, ect.) if you aren't sure where your focus lies.

Hi Shahmir,

If you're interested in becoming a game designer.. having a background in either art or computer science (or a bit of both) will definitely help! There are also specialized degrees in game design/development. The two colleges I've seen the most game designers come out of are Carnegie Mellon and USC. Both are extremely competitive to get into, so study hard!
