My professional advice would be to make sure it is something you are passionate about before getting into. I’ve seen too many people get into this career and lose interest only after spending thousands in tools and certifications. If you are still interested then you would like to know that the pay can be great, you will gain more knowledge on not just automotive but many things in general. But the downside is that it is hard work. Slackers don’t typically make it in the industry after a number of years. There is also many downsides when working at dealerships that include bad pay to horrible management.

I have never worked in this industry and I am sure it is very hard work but one thing is sure, this is an industry where you will always have a need for good auto mechanics. If you are good at what you do you will always be able to find work and that is a good talent to have in this day and time that we live in.
