The automotive repair career field is an excellent field for people to enter. The majoroty of people own at least one car so there is no shortage of customers. Although technology is changing automobiles will always be a major part of our lives. The automotive technician field Is growing. There will soon be a shortage of technicians due to the average age of automotive technicians being 53 years. There are many options available to those entering the automotive repair career field. Options such as; truck repair technician, heavy equipment repair, diesel repair, train repair, boat repair, parts sales, service sales and management. The pay is good especially for those who stay up on technology through formal training.
There are many reasons why automotive repair is better than other career paths. Time goes by fast when your busy taking apart complex systems. Even during recessions people have their vehicles repaired. There are always openings for technicians of all levels. There is room for advancement and first line automotive supervisors get compensated quite well.

Find a local training program
Fill out FAFSA to get financial aid
Find entry level technician employment or an apprenticeship
