Curiosity: take advantage of the opportunities whether it's from courses, reading, asking other people questions, etc. When I am working with my clients, I like to understand how their business works (how they generate money and for what purpose). This might mean learning about stuff beyond technology, but it has given me a well rounded perspective, and in turn, allow me to participate in bigger discussions that have a greater impact.
Positive attitude: Things don't always work the way we hope! It's easy to complain and/or be negative about a situation. My best advice is that it's ok to acknowledge things that don't work (even publicly), but having a realistic opinion on how those things can be fixed or improved is what people will remember you for.

Hi Garrett, Great question! If you are interested in business, I think you are on the right track looking at Communications. You may also take a look at some psychology classes in college so that you can understand buying behavior and consumer decision making. I studied Communications in college and it has served me very well in my business career. I work in a huge company so there are many people that I need to make sure I am working well with, even under tight deadlines and heavy pressure. The interpersonal and organizational communications skills I learned in college continue to be relevant to me everyday, even some 17-20 years into my career. No matter the industry, being able to communicate well with people and work together is a critically important skill.

Hi Garrett,
One of the biggest strengths you can have when going into business is being curious and that can be trained everyday. Whether you are trying to close a sale or just meeting someone, the questions you ask and the interest you show will open the world for you. You would be astounded to see what happens when you ask questions and genuinely want to hear the answer. People will tell you everything you know about them and the more you know the better you can deliver on their expectations. This is true for clients, bosses, colleagues, friends, basically anyone. I know every time a client does not buy from me, I ask 'why', is it the price, is it the product, is it me? By being curious about everything, I learn and get better with every question.
