Ranjana’s Answer

Hey Lauren!

A lot of us go through this confusion, and it is fair to have significantly different interests. You can be all of them together, but you need to find the right balance between them.

I would suggest you make a list of all your interests and categorize them into two columns, one being 'Profession' and the other one as 'Passion.' Never get confused with these two.

A profession is something that gives you income in return. It is essential to have a decent income so that you can focus on your passion as well. Further, categorize them according to the time that you would want to invest in each of the things.

Just giving you an example - you are interested in graphic designing, Athletic trainer, and a Nutritionist.
You can choose to be a full-time Graphic designer and a freelance Nutritionist and be an Athletic Trainer for a few hours in a day. This sequence depends on your interests.
I hope you find this useful.
All the best :)

Jeremy’s Answer

Lauren,

I was the same way growing up. I wanted to be everything from a lawyer to a sports trainer. You have time to decide what you want to do and there is no "deadline" for choosing. Try a bunch of different things, do deep research on the careers your interested. You'll find what you like the best when the time is right. Good Luck!

So you are a multipotentialite. Watch the video on YouTube if you haven’t yet. Search the word “multipotentialite”.

Talk to people who do things that appeal to you. You can find them on Linkedin. Ask them questions about their job.
Start somewhere. Life will give you different opportunities. Careers can be non linear.

Thank you for your question. I am glad to hear that you have a wide range of interest. You may not able to work in these careers all at the the same. Have you ever found out the daily life of these careers?
Below is my suggestions :
1. You can find our more on these careers. There are plenty of information online.
2. Speak to someone who are working in these careers.
3. Seek advise from your mentors, school career counselor, your parents, etc.
4. Explore any intern opportunities working in these careers
5. Find out the entry criteria of the relevant subjects in the college and match with your academic performance
Hope this helps! Good Luck!

Robert’s Answer

hi Lauren,

The best advice I can give you is to find people that are actually in the careers you are interested in and try to speak with them or better try to shadow them during their work day if possible. Ask them what they like and don't like about their career. Ask them if they had opportunity would they have done some thing different and why. I think you get the idea... good luck on your career journery

James’s Answer

Brainstorm a list of things that interest you like passions that inspire you so you can narrow it down.

Then take the time to research courses things you can study at universities/colleges that allow you to follow your interests and passions! It might be worthwhile connecting with universities to see if they have "Open days" when you can go and talk to course co-ordinators etc so gain more of a understanding about study opportunities. Good luck :))

Ann Cherrise’s Answer

You can try to assess your values and what is important to you at this stage if your life right now. Whether it's building your career, taking care of you health, providing for your family or giving back to the community. Once you have reflected on that, now you can think about the things that you like doing. I know it's a little hard to rank our hobbies and/or interests but you can always go back to your values and see what fits and relates to the things you value and prioritize.

At the end of the day, there's nothing more fulfilling than taking care of what's important to you while doing the things you love.
