Rachel’s Answer
Many older physicians leave the medical field because the burden of the administrative tasks becomes too great. A large amount of time is required for documentation and coding. For physicians that don't know how to use an electronic medical record well, these tasks can take a huge toll.

Nurses leave this field for many reasons, but inadequate compensation is never one of them. Nurses deal with an extraordinary amount of stress due to a fast-paced work environment and the need for constant reprioritization of tasks. Nurses must be flexible and able to adapt to change. The healthcare setting is everchanging. Sometimes one has only a split second to make a crucial decision. It is this fast-paced, stressful environment with long hours which leads to nurses suffering from "burnout".
As with everything else in life, balance is the key to success. Having a healthy work-life balance and taking care of one's personal needs will prevent or at least slow down the likelihood of a nurse wanting to leave the profession due to undesirable consequences. Nursing is a wonderful, fulfilling field with lots of diversity and room for advancement. It's a career one will never regret entering.
Best of luck and be well :)
