There are negatives in every job. You just have to ignore it and keep focusing on the positive. That would go for almost anything in your life, family, friends, jobs, events, etc.

Traci’s Answer

Hi Brandon,

There are negatives in all jobs. If you can focus on the positive and ignore the negativity, then do so. The key is to know when those negatives start to affect you emotionally and professionally. When that becomes the case, you have to make a decision on whether you move on or stay and try to work through. If you decide to work through the negativity, make sure that you have the resources to help you. If you decide to move on, make sure that you don't put yourself into another negative environment. Identify what made the previous experience negative, and while interviewing, ask the right questions to understand the culture that you would be entering into.

Hope this helps.

Maren’s Answer

There are going to be negatives no matter what job you join. Whether it be the work, the coworkers, the company culture, etc, rarely is there a job opportunity that doesn't have at least one negative. The key is learning how to overcome those challenges and also knowing when the challenges are too much for you to handle. Never stay in a work situation that negatively impacts your mental wellbeing, but do be aware that there will always be challenges, and that you can overcome them!

Jennifer’s Answer

Every job has their negatives and positives - you need to sort out if the negatives are something you can deal with. I think you need to sort out what area of Human Resources you are interested in too - is it Compensation and Benefits, Recruiting or a HR Manager or Generalist for the employees in a company.

The negatives I found working as an HR Generalist is that it can be stressful making decisions affecting peoples lives -terminating someones employment, laying someone off or deciding if they are getting a promotion or not - all of these decisions affect someones life so you need to be comfortable making these types of decisions. If you are working directly with employees as their HR person you are the person that has to deal with a troublesome employees safely.

There are a lot of benefits with working with people too - just as you get the bad you get the good - it is very rewarding to see your people grow, be successful and to celebrate accomplishments with them.
