Barry’s Answer
Your best option is to try to get on with an engineering firm and learn the trade and gain experience. It is almost impossible to jump to your own company straight out of college for something like skilled engineering work. It's best to learn the business, network, gain experience, and then launch when you have the funds and experience.
Good luck!

I'd definitely agree with Barry's answer.
I wouldn't jump into starting a company just for the sake of owning one. Of course it's not impossible to succeed even in that case, but definitely way harder.
After a few years of work experience you will have a much better understanding of the given sector, experience in one or more different roles and a much larger professional network that will be beneficial when starting your own business.
