What parts of your job do you find most challenging

I’m a senior student in San Antonio, Tx. I’m interested in working in the medical field i’m undecided on a specific career but i would prefer to work with animals. I’m very corporative and work well with others and I would like to work with a close team. #animals field #career #medicine

Thank you comment icon Hi Monica, I majored in Psychology on the first day of class I found that there is a lot of reading and you do have to memorize a lot of information and that kinda scared me off from it. I would suggest if this is something passionate to you go for it and do not allow the amount of information you will have to learn and push forward with your dream. Anything you do comes work so it is up to you to really have to put forth the effort. With that being said follow your passion. Dawn Turner

Hey,
The most challenging part in Medicine is the amount of information you need to memorize. however, don't be encouraged by this because once you know the basics and start participating in the clinical world of health care you might find great joy specially if you are good with people.

volunteer in health care

Hi Monica,

A great way to investigate your ideas and learn more is to apply for internships or job-shadowing opportunities so you can try it out in person. If you're interested in working with animals in a medical field, you might consider working in a veterinarian office. They typically have all kinds of positions that may not require experience. You could also consider volunteering or getting a job at an animal shelter to start building experience working with animals.

A really great thing to do would also just be to talk to someone in the field. You might consider calling a veterinary office and tell them you are a student interested in the field and see if one of the doctors would be willing to talk to you. Be prepared to ask meaningful questions that will help you learn! Ask what they love about their job, what do they hate about their job, and what steps they had to go through to get there. Lots of people want to help others getting started in the field, and it's a great way to narrow down the choices that are a fit for you and your interests.

Good luck!
Janelle

Being a physician can be stressful, especially when the patients have an incurable illness. After years of education and training the feeling of helplessness can be devastating.
