Estelle’s Answer
I have seen nurses be berated by physicians. It can be very demotivating, and I have been very dishearted when I have seen it.

The biggest challenge for clinical rotations in RN school is just time management. You have to continue to study and go to class while also being fully prepared for your clinicals including care plans and having knowledge of your patients. Learning time management skills early is a necessity.

Rebecca’s Answer
There were several things that were difficult about going through clinical rounds but I think the most difficult for me was separating my personal feelings from the care I had to give to patients. Sometimes when you have to help someone get better you have to do things that might hurt them, like debriding a wound or giving a shot but in the end you have to know that all that will ultimately make them better. It was hard for me to see someone in pain and not feel bad or to see someone alone and not want to do everything I could for them and found that sometimes I just wasn't enought. What I have learned is that if I showed up everyday and did my very best that's what mattered. Nursing can be very rewarding and it can be very difficult at times. Being of service to people takes a lot of work and can sometimes bring out the best in you and the worst. It has to be something that you love.
