Is there a branch in business that doesn't require a business person to dress so professionally?

I want to go to college for business, but I told myself I didn't want to have to work in an office and be bored and boring all the time. #e-business

I'm so with you. I once interviewed for a job with a software company that would have required me to wear a suit and tie everyday. I turned the job down. Clothes have a huge impact on how you feel and you shouldn't feel stifled when you're trying to be creative or when you need to feel free to talk with people with your own voice. It's possible to work in business and not be tied to office wear. Consider the industry and company closely. When you interview, look around the office - are everyone in cubes wearing suits or is it an open area with people dressed casually? Ask about the culture of the company - organizations tend to follow their mission and communication styles (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway%27s_law). Have faith - I work in a business setting at Salesforce as a product manager with engineers where we focus on fun, creativity, and innovation. You wear what makes you feel creative and comfortable to have the kinds of cool conversations that make incredible product. Focus on the kind of business you want and research your companies well when it comes time to find a job. It's out there!

Jasmine,

Many companies today have a relaxed dress policy. You won't have to dress over the top professionally but instead you can wear jeans and an appropriate shirt.

The office environment isn't always boring, at many places you'll make friends in the office and enjoy being there, especially if you enjoy your work.

Good Luck!

There are so many directions you could go with a degree in business. I work for a fashion/footwear brand and the scope of what people wear is pretty broad. I'm in sales and my accounts are more youth-orientated so love to be able to express myself in the clothes I wear. It's definitely not a boring career, we are encouraged to come as we are.

This is a good read - the workforce is changing and how we dress is slowly changing too. https://www.npr.org/2019/03/09/701070560/not-just-fridays-more-companies-embrace-casual-dress-codes?t=1645717874102
