Hi,

Interesting question.

The compensation policy varies from organisations. However there could be three broad categories

  1. Few companies will give you raise annually (periodically) irrespective of how well they are doing
  2. Few companies will give you raise at par with their profits. They may not give raise at all if they are not doing good. However they announce it annually (periodically)
  3. Some other companies will share their profits with you as and when they receive it.
