Shagoon’s Answer

Hello Isaac,

Before deciding on which career to choose, create a career plan for yourself. Write your choices and answer why this career, what will it offer, how to achiever it, how to start preparing for it, etc.

Linda’s Answer

Isaac - what are your interests? Do you like to build and create things? How handy are you at fixing things? Do you want to own your own business? You have the option to own a business in all of these career choices and you will need to be certified to sell real estate and to be a certified plumber? I would go with the choice that is of the most interest to you. Real Estate agents also work often very long hours and on evenings and weekends in order to work with the schedule of your clients. Hope this helps! - Linda

Chris’s Answer

Hi Isaac. I am a real estate appraiser and definitely suggest looking into the appraisal (valuation) industry. It would allow you the freedom to work for yourself, or work for a financial institution. I have done both and found the experience in both has been fantastic. Each state regulates the requirements, so you'd want to check out the TX Appraiser Licensing and Certification Board website. https://www.talcb.texas.gov/
If you like the idea of spending a portion of your time in the field (inspected properties) and still spending time at your desk (analyzing markets and researching comparable sales, to determine the value of real estate property), it might be the career for you.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
