Hi Anastasia,

Good question!

If you are interested to become elementary school teacher, Please follow below guidelines:

K-6 teacher requirements depend on the state or region in which the prospective teacher is seeking certification, but generally, a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and completion of an approved teacher preparation program is expected. For traditional students, the following is the typical process to become an elementary school teacher:

  1. Earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education.
  2. Complete an internship in an elementary school classroom.
  3. Take your state’s licensing exams for elementary teachers.
  4. Apply for a license through your state board of education.
  5. Once you have received your license, begin applying for open positions.

Anastasia,
It’s so exciting to see your interest in education. As a former teacher, I would advise you have a love for people, community, and culture. You will directly impact all of those things and likewise be impacted by them. Teaching is so much fun but also can be challenging dealing with the governmental controls and budgets shortfalls. Classroom management is learning how to manage all the students behaviors simultaneously. Curriculum designs and education classes are mostly psychology based and subject matter.
I would talk to all the teachers you know and go from there.
All The Best,
