Estelle’s Answer

My sister is a dermatologist. She likes helping her patients the most. Diagnosing and treating skin cancer is fulfilling for her. She also likes making people more comfortable when they have rashes.
The thing she likes the least is medication prior authorizations and trying to get insurance to pay claims.

Sharonne’s Answer

I just started this job with Avesis last week. The pros are learning new skills and applying old skills to make the job more efficient. The cons are learning what is expected of you during this learning time. Starting a new job can be a little annoying at first. You don't know what it is to do until you are fully trained. Coming in daily without a routine for a few weeks can be challenging a little boring. But eventually, you will get it and then coming to work will have more pros than cons.

Sharonne recommends the following next steps:

When starting a job, learn to expect the unexpected. Always be willing to learn from all of your colleagues. Be open to suggestions, even if you know how to do something better. Let every day be a learning experience. Bring a copy of your job description to make sure you are making the best out of your days.

Rachel’s Answer

One pro of dermatology would be having mostly healthy patients. A con of dermatology would be the administrative aspect of dealing with insurance companies and obtaining payment for services rendered.
