What are the best way to find job related to account for new student?

I am Shova Shrestha. I am from Nepal and came here as a dependent visa. I go to Montgomery College, Rockville. I will finish my associate degree in Business. However, since i am an international student I don't have much experience and fluent English language skills. Whenever the job is opened, the organization requires work experiences and fluency of language which I do not have now. Therefore, how can I get a better job after I finish college? Who can help to encourage learners like me in the future? #college

Hi Shova,

It sounds like you are concerned about your English language skills and how that might affect your ability to get hired. That can be scary! Don't worry though, you have a lot of time to improve your skills and reach fluency in English. Most businesses and schools look for a TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) test score. You can find more information about that here: https://www.cappex.com/articles/testing/english-language-proficiency-tests

I would recommend using as many resources as you can to improve your English while you are in the US. Duo Lingo (with the owl) is a popular language learning app you can use, but I might also recommend formal ESL (English as a Second Language) classes to give you in-person experience.

Montgomery College in Rockville offers three different ESL classes.

I would recommend speaking to someone in the "contact" section in purple on the right-hand side. They should be able to give you more information on what course would fit your needs.

If you practice, practice, practice, you'll be fluent sooner than you think! Don't be afraid to try out your english skills with native speakers, even if you might mess up sometimes- that's part of language learning! You can do it!

Emily A. recommends the following next steps:

Download Duo Lingo on your phone and start learning English.
Contact the ESL department for Montgomery College to enroll in ESL course.
Take TOEFL exam when you are confident in the English language.
