Emma,

In terms of the type of classes you will be taking... different colleges/ universities can have slightly different (sometimes much pretentious) requirements in the classes you have to take to become a nurse an example would be whether or not you have to take Literature. However in general you will be taking: English Comp, Math, Art/Humanities, Bio I, A&P I&II, MircoBio, Chem I, Psyc and/or Soc, Human Growth and Development.

Your nursing classes can vary in name but the essential content will be something like: adult acute and chronic disease; maternal/child health; pediatrics; psychiatric/mental health nursing; and community health nursing. Any of your nursing, science, and math classes will be the most beneficial in terms of what you will be using in the field of nursing. Depending on where you work as an RN or what you are doing you may not use all of the information you learn an example would be if you decide to work and stay working in pediatrics you will not be using any gerontology skills.

I used this free online source (https://www.khanacademy.org/test-prep/nclex-rn) to supplement some of my classes. You can use it for your own learning purposes or just to glance through it in order to have a better understanding of some of the required material.
