What should I focus on if I am interested in becoming a Navy Nurse? What steps do you recommend I take to pursue this career?

I am sophomore in high school, at Boston Collegiate Charter School. I am exploring the world of careers. I am mostly interested in majoring in Nursing, or Education. #nursing #medicine #united-states-navy

Hi Jennifer
I am not actually working in this area myself but I have been watching a show we have on UK TV about Navy recruits - and one of the group they were following was specifically there to be a Navy Nurse. No matter what discipline you follow in the Navy you still need to take and pass basic training - which covers not only drill and learning about life in the Navy but a strong fitness test. So one thing you could do to increase your chances of acceptance to the basic training and passing it would be to mix your school studies with fitness activities. You may also have branches of the military for students oat your location - def join or at least meet with them if they are available to get a better understanding of life in the forces. You can also of course talk to people you may now who are current or past serving forces staff - they can give you a good idea of what life is like. As well look for opportunities to experience nursing life - we all see a lot of that on TV but I am not sure the reality is quite the same ;-) Perhaps your school has a work experience program which can help you visit a hospital or other facility for a day or week to see what day to day work is like. Or again ask any neighbours, teachers, other adults you know if they can introduce you to anyone ho could help you gain exposure.

Good luck with your studies and if the nursing life is for you, it is a skill that can be practiced all over the world and in many different ways so you will always have options for the future.
