What career should l look into?

I want a career where l can make the world a better place, such as cleaner, healthier, and safer. I am not a math/science kind of person, l strive in social studies and english. I also want a career that could possibly give me a solid platform to run for office one day, but that is a lower priority. My main priority is a job that l feel is impactful to the world and also one that pays decently where l could live comfortably and support a family.

To get a flavor of a political career, consider applying to be a congressional intern. I am not sure what that will be like this year due to the Covid crisis, but there may be a way you can participate on-line. Here is the link that will take you to the website.

Hally’s Answer

Hi Wyatt,

I suggest looking into a career as a Lobbyist. You would usually get a degree in Political Science, Law, Journalism, or Public Communication which are not math/science heavy. I know lobbying can have a bad connotation, however you could choose to lobby for causes/corporations that make the world cleaner, healthier, and safer. Further, if you decide to run for office you would have a solid background.

If this does not interest you, I also suggest looking into a career in teaching/counseling. There is limited math/science courses within these degrees paths and you get to watch people learn and grow.
