The military is very disciplined and you must follow the rules or there are consequences. You have to wear uniforms any time you're working. There are also a lot of transfers to different locations all over the world. You have to go where they send you. So you may go several years of not seeing your family and friends. Many people don't fit in with the military because they don't like being told what to do, some don't like all the training, etc. There are several benefits you might want to consider like traveling to places you probably wouldn't see other wise, education and training opportunities, free medical care for you and your dependents.
