Find your major interest areas.. language, history, geography, math, acting, music, dance, photography, cinema, fashion/dress design, medicine, biology, zoology, physics, chemistry, sales, advertising, marketing, business studies, economics, accounting, etc. Be as specific as possible in naming them. E.g. fine arts is general vs photography is specific. Make a bigger list of all your interest subjects (up to 50). Short list 10 most interesting for you.
In India.. the major studies offered in pre-university are some combinations of your specific subjects .. different combinations in different universities from public to pvt. Public universities may have lesser choice of combinations. Pvt in India and international universities (outside India) have more choice of combinations.
Match your interest subjects with combinations offered by the college or university. E.g. physics, math and computer science. Dress design, photogrpahy and painting. You may have to take 1 or 2 subjects in the combination that may not match exactly all thst you listed. E.g. a college you like may need you to take history as a part of arts or even commerce. You may not like history but you still have to take it. This is true even in bachelor degree.
Talk to seniors and friends, refer college brochures.. to know more about options. Don't copy your friends blindly. Don't go by salary opportunities based on current job scene. That may change in future or may disinterest you. Keep in touch and discuss with seniors and friends to understand more what to choose after 12 grade or PU.
Discuss with seniors and friends to understand more what to choose when in college after 12 grade or PU.
When you are in 11 and 12 grade (PU) .. in your chosen field, look for opportunities to participate in competitions and presentations. You will be excited to participate if that subject or topic is your passion.
Take up internship in each choice of jobs that might are interest you. This will clearly show how you are interested and passionate when you are on the job. E.g. if you love photography .. then participate in internship or competitions.
Look for a mentor through friends or family who can guide you in making a good choice for field of study.
Hope the above thoughts helped. Let me know if you have any specific questions as well. Thank you.
