S’s Answer

Of course! And you will be doing something that you'll actually enjoy. By the way, you can even do that now. If you can learn coding from Khan Academy or any other online websites, and you have an idea for a game, get started right now! All the best.

Doina’s Answer

Dear AJ,

That's amazing that you already have an idea what you want to be at a later point in life. Why wait until you grow up? There are different free classes online that you can take so you can start developing your skills. Follow free classes on https://www.udemy.com/, see what you can learn already if this is something you are passionate about.

However as a perspective for a career, for sure you can convert it into one at a later stage.

Doina recommends the following next steps:

Start learning as much as you can https://www.udemy.com/

Lacy’s Answer

I 100% agree with the statements above! Why wait, one thing to realize is in a field such as video game design and coding, failure is bound to happen. So the younger you start and the more experience you can get under your belt, the better. There are tons of programs out there for younger adults and children. The Microsoft store has a program, as well as many colleges or companies in your area. Apps and programs are becoming cheaper and many offer free watered down versions. These are all things that will help you, not only develop skills but knowledge in the field you are wanting to look into. It is amazing to have an idea of what you want to do, but look and network around you to ensure those dreams are where you want to invest your time. Look at local stem programs, at your community center, and boys and girls club, also the boy and girl scouts have programs for stem. Start building your resume and have fun getting into the field! It's very competitive so anything you do now, will pay off later.

Lacy recommends the following next steps:

look to participate in local programs or volunteer
search summer camps for local colleges or universities
reach out to local companies in that field and find a mentor
