Hello,
Technology keeps evolving in our world and Engineering background is always on demand. I have found that it opens many career paths not just Engineering technical fields. The problem solving skills that are developed in Engineering studies can be applied to many other fields so you will have more career options as you gain experience.

Kay's response to this question was fantastic!
The answer to your question is - NEITHER.
There can't be too many or too few because the world will never stop needing engineers! Almost every company in the world that is developing a product needs mechanical engineers. Don't be discouraged by the number of people going into the industry!
Hope this helps!

Both EE and ME opportunities are projected to continue to grow at rates at or above other professions. That's a good reason to become an engineer.
A GREAT reason to become an engineer is being rewarded with a life of learning and problem solving. It is truly one of the most rewarding careers available to those who thrive on complex problems and solving them!
It is not easy academically to get into engineering, and it helps to have an aptitude in physics, hands on, and ability to visualize and test potential solutions.
If you fit those criteria (and more) - go for it! You will never regret the choice and will be rewarded financially and personally.
