Desiree’s Answer

If you want to go straight into learning on the job, you can start as an installer. Many companies will train you to install new HVAC systems, run ductwork, etc. You would be partnered with a more experienced installer. To move up and make more money, you need to get some training to learn the mechanical/repair side.

Desiree recommends the following next steps:

Look for a company that is hiring installers and see if they are willing to train you on the job. This does happen!

John’s Answer

You can learn the trade by going either the engineering or apprenticeship route, then specialize in areas like controls, pharmaceutical clean room environments, or domestic building services.

There is a lot of jobs but for this I would encourage looking to trade school or a HVAC company that offers on the job training.
