Rebecca’s Answer

In Business, there are many different areas like Sales, Accounting, Administration, Information Technology, etc. It depends on what areas you are interested on and your skills. There are many different position that it suits you.

However, if you would like to advance your career, you have to perform well regardless of being a government contractor or working in business field. You should make improvement from time to time rather than competing with others.

Glendon’s Answer

The business field is very competitive but rewarding. The important thing is to set yourself apart from others. If you are considering a career in this area, look at what competencies are required and look to see how you acquire the skills to be proficient in these competencies, but also to get experience in the competencies. There are similar competencies across many roles in business e.g. communication, creative thinking, would suggest looking for ways you can learn the academic theory but also how you can acquire or practice these skills.

Simeon’s Answer

I'm assuming you are referring to the competitiveness of getting into a job? It really depends on which company you are looking to get into. There is a lot of competition to get into specific firms, such as the big four accounting firms, but there won't be enough competition to prevent finding a job at all. Networking is important for almost any field you'd be looking to get into. Most of business is less about skill acquisition and more about slowly adding people to your network. You need to learn your specific job skill set, but after that you are mostly networking.
