usually 40 hours. Time is not an issue, but the flexibility makes difference. If you work for a major hospital, the schedule is by on call rotation. If you have your own clinic, you can pick the best off days.

Plastic surgeons' hours are highly variable. Many plastic surgeons work 40-60 hours per week. During plastic surgery residency (training), you will work closer to 80 hours per week.

Since plastic surgeons are often self employed, they can set their own hours and work 40-60 hours per week. Those that work less than full time make less money, which can be a problem since many of the expenses including malpractice insurance, rent and office staff are fixed costs whether the plastic surgeon is at work.
