What professional journals and organizations should I be aware of?

You can find a variety of professional organizations on a website called, "What Can You Do With a Major In? This website allows you to search options within your field of study as well as give you professional organizations you can get involved in, and employment websites to search for jobs within that field.

Don recommends the following next steps:

Goggle the website What Can You Do With a Major In?
Scroll down the website and determine what your interest is in. The website has about 80 different majors to choose from.

You can use Linkedin and Glassdoor to search for jobs, and to know what positions are getting popular. If you are a engineering student, I would suggest you to use IEEE. They have the most novel papers in the area, and can help you to understand what the industry has been focusing on recently. Also, if you are in college, many school will hold career fair. These event can be helpful as well.
