Considering all the people you've met in your field, what personal attributes are essential for success?
I know this field can be a tough one considering the things that one might see in a day to day basis. At the same time I just wanted to know about how I can make an impact on the community. #medicine

Persistence.
There are plenty of reasons and plenty of opportunities to give up on the path to any career. But don’t give up. I take inspiration from the story of the failed Antarctic exploration by polar explorer Ernest Shackleton and his crew as told in the book “Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage.” Understanding their ability to overcome the incredible hardships and survive teaches me that humans can accomplish anything

Hi Zoe. In all my years working, the most important personal attributes for me are empathy and open mindedness. In my experience, people who to care for others and understand their perspective, even if it is different from their own, have been able to influence my career development and have had a positive impact on me and the people around them.
