I've been a professional software engineer for over 20 years, and started tinkering with programming when I was 12. I get immense satisfaction from putting all my mental energy into solving a tough problem, or building a tool that other people can use. As an engineer, you have a chance to work on a broad range of problems. I highly recommend it!
