I would say instead of focusing on course load for this type of career, the best thing to do is to work construction for a local company every summer. Learning construction hands on, with practice legitimately in the field is the quickest way to learn the skills you need and to learn little tricks of the trade. Then, if you still enjoy this career after working hard through the summer, schools with construction management programs are very well designed to set you up for a career in this field. Plus, they often offer co-op programs which allow you to earn money while in school. Wentworth Tech in boston is a very well know CM program.

Brent’s Answer

Construction contractors will typically either hire their own workers, or go to the local union labor hall for the help they need. The Union may have on the job training programs where new employees will get experience and learn their trade. Contacting a local contractor or the local union hall may be helpful.
