Jerry’s Answer

Hello Daniel,

A Business Degree is a great foundational degree. Especially if you do not have a specific field of study that you want to pursue. You learn about leadership, finance, etc. which can be transferred to any field that you decide to go in. My daughter just completed a Bachelors in Business and has now decided to go on and get her Masters in Project Management.

Alexandra’s Answer

It's about finding what you are passionate about, this is what I personally believe it makes anyone be successful no matter the industry they work in. I recommend reading Simon Sinek, Start with Why.

Try to find an industry that you are passionate about and have a vision in mind, where do you see your self, and try to focus on studying different aspects on the industry, like type of jobs, pros and cons, read articles about trends in the industry, see where the industry is going so that you know where to focus your education and professional development.

Dominic’s Answer

Hi Daniel,

Businesses will always need great people, so I would say yes, it's worth it. The key in any career you choose is to like what you do, like who you do it with and get satisfaction in the work not the results. From my experience, if you enjoy what you do, the results will come. Majoring in business is the general direction, but as you move along you will find what really interests you.

-Managing people

-Managing operations and processes

-Marketing and sales

-Being an entrepreneur and starting your own business

-Finances and accounting.

Take the time to experience these different aspects, continue asking questions here as you get more specific and make sure you choose work you will like doing everyday!

Mili’s Answer

Hey Daniel,

Majoring in business is definitely worth it! It gives you a great broad perspective of how businesses, economies, and even governments work around the world. What I would recommend however, is to find your niche in business. Specialize in your major, and make sure what you are specializing in is something you're interested in and won't get bored of.

If you just major in "business" with no real point of interest, you may find it lack-luster (and employers may find it too broad). Specialize & find your niche! The rest will fall into place because of the broad knowledge a business degree provides.

Best of luck!

Charlie’s Answer

Hello,

If you're in a position where you're unsure of the career path you'd like to pursue, a business degree is one that can serve many functions later in your career. There is a lot of practical, professional knowledge you will learn through taking business courses at an accredited business school.

However, if being an entrepreneur is what you would like to pursue, there are plenty of other ways to go about successfully creating a business model, especially if you have resources outside of a business degree. Networking and personability are things that go a long way.
