Hi Alina! I love that you are looking into being a sign language interpreter/teacher. Sign language is a great language to learn to communicate with those with hearing disabilities. It will also help you in any career you choose as its an additional language that you can add to your resume. I'd suggest finding where you can learn the language in your area and expand on your existing knowledge. Then find someone to practice with to retain what you learn. Best of luck!

Hi Alina,

Below are pros to becoming a teacher (in general)...
- Unionized work (If in a public school)
- Salary Schedules (If in a public school)
- Good benefits
- You are expected to always learn
- You elevate peoples' game
- Potential summers off/ you can work summers for more money

Below are cons to becoming a teacher...
- Teaching is emotionally taxing
- You bring a lot of work home with you
- It can be hard to have a healthy work-life balance
- Your work schedule can be unbearable (depending on the district who hires you)

Final Verdict - Teaching is tedious work, but if you are in the business of building people up and not yourself, than this is the job for you!

If you are looking to become a sign language teacher, know that not all districts require/need a sign language teacher. If you plan on going into teaching, do some research on job outlook of a sign language teacher.

Best,

Drew
