You will do hands on training in a clinical setting, help patients with different tasks that nurses do, and also shadow already licensed nurses.

The hands on activities are great! You’re first semester you will most likely start in a skilled nursing facility or assisted living setting where you will be paired with a nurse an assist with their day to day duties. You will interact with the patients and help them with their activities of daily living. In the classroom setting you will learn how to give injections, on a fake arm, learn how to change a patient who is bed bound and how to give them a bed bath. You’ll also learn how to do a head-to-toe assessment which is one of the most important things in nursing. Nursing school keeps you very busy and the hands on opportunities continue to grow throughout the program. By the end you’ll be taking a full team of patients by yourself with the help of a nurse to assist when and where you need.
