The hardest thing I have had to do as a dermatologist is tell someone that they have a life threatening cancer that has no cure. It can be very rewarding discovering disorders on patients that you have good treatments for, but difficult for those that may not have a good outcome.

Sometimes patients have expectations that are unrealistic. They think an acne medication will cure their skin overnight, when really it needs weeks-months to work. Rosacea is another condition hard to treat because it will flare up and is very frustrating to the patients. The redness is more of a cosmetic issue and therefore treatments are limited.
