It depends on years in the field, I would suggest that work someplace for a year or two to get your training then go apply other places it will be the small raise they will give you. Also Travel after you get some experience, You get to see the United States on someone else's dime. I did and went to Utah when the Olympics were there, Also went to New Orleans during Mardi gras. You could be in New York for New Years, or Colorado for snow skiing, all on some one else's dime. Currently I have two full time jobs and make 6 figures but it all depends on what you want to do.

Frankly what nurses get paid should not be a reason to go into nursing, IMO. When I began my nursing career many years ago, nurses were not well paid and you needed one or two roommates to make it. Today new nurses make enough money to live alone quite well. Yet that depends on what country and even what part of the country you work in. New RN salaries can range from $25-$34 an hour in most of the U.S. Hospitals always pay more, because you give up more of your life to meet staffing needs. So, it depends on what kind of life-work balance you are looking for...but don’t let $$$ be your guide in choosing.
