Harold’s Answer

One of the skills in the automotive trade is troubleshooting, which is a very valuable skill, many people are not good trouble shooters. I worked for a company that installed and serviced control systems for water parks and aquatic centers. Four of our technicians where trained as auto-mechanics but found they did not like the fast pace of working in an auto repair shop. With the mechanical skills and troubleshooting skills they had learned as auto mechanics, they quickly learned to repair the control systems we used in the aquatic industry. I would suggest you look for job that require troubleshooting and mechanical skills, which would be the service maintenance sector. There are many options our there. If you have good troubleshooting skills you will be valuable in many industries.

Christy’s Answer

Automotive sales or auto mechanic would be great options where you can showcase your skills. In the sales field, buyers will appreciate an educated seller who understands the mechanics of the vehicle and can call our the pros/cons of each option. Mechanics also make quite a bit of money especially when working with high end shops dealing with exotic vehicles.
