Dawn’s Answer

With some advanced training, I recommend you work in the welding industry to gain some practical work experience. While you're working in the welding profession, you can take advantage of ongoing skills training and certificates- and your job will pay for the continuing education be a use you work there. You can then decide if you feel you want to continue your education. Meanwhile, you'll be a skilled welder making a good living wage that can afford to go back to school.

Dawn recommends the following next steps:

Search for entry-level jobs in the welding field on job sites like indeed.com or glass door.com

Simeon’s Answer

Experience will always trump education when it comes to your resume. You'll be able to take classes part-time if you're concerned about getting a degree at some point. Consider knocking out classes at community college and pursuing an associate's degree. A degree's purpose is essentially to get a job, so if you are already on the career path you want, you should stick with getting a job as soon as possible if you already can get one.
