Sounds like you’re pretty creative! Did you know there are people who design scrubs for a living? If you’re interested in designing clothes, I recommend taking at least some fashion classes! Dentists & other medical professionals will always need innovative clothing designs for scrubs. Both fabric & construction elements are super important in this field. I minored in fashion design and I learned a lot about fabrics and their properties. My university offered a class where students needed to design scrubs for a scholarship opportunity & as their final projects. Also - dentist & medical offices often need interior designers as well. Definitely consider corporate interior design as well. I hope that I could give you some advice on blending dentistry & fashion :)

Lexy recommends the following next steps:

Seek information & skills in dentistry & fashion design - the most creative people are able to blend two completely different skills! Steve Jobs blended his knowledge on computers & calligraphy to make his first Mac computer.

Kelly Michelle’s Answer

Hi there! I resonate with you in a lot of ways because I love fashion but I also have a lot of other interests. Ultimately what helped me decide this as my career was working in the industry and defining career specific goals. I see a lot of people "fail" in the industry because they do not know what the industry really consists of. A lot of times people do not see the business side of fashion, the marketing, the creative or the detail that goes into it that is not always glamour. I would highly suggest meeting with professionals and seeing what their experience has been to determine if you can see yourself in a similar role. I suggest working part time if you can or taking an internship to see if you really like this before committing. I personally love the industry and have made my life around it! Those who do the research in the industry and also create specific goals for themselves are typically the most successful because it's a lot easier to reach your goals. Hope this helps.

Kelly Michelle recommends the following next steps:

Research! Research is key. Do you like the idea of fashion or is there a specific role you are interested in?
Shadow people in the industry and go on interviews. See what its like before making a large commitment.

OLAPEJU ESTHER’s Answer

Career is what needs to be planned for, you're a dentist that has passion for fashion and I am an Accountant that has passion for Counseling and social work which means I can be an Accountant and Counselor at the same time, do you enjoy being a dentist and fashionista at the same? Thats a question to brood over my dear no matter what, you can be whatever you wants to be in life age is not even a barrier which means you can be a dentist and be a fashionista at the same time, just enjoy doing both.

Dentistry(profession) does not disturb/stop you from going into Fashion (passion).
