Adrienne’s Answer
Kyle, to me, I love cooking in restaurants versus hotels. My husband loved cooking in hotels.
The hospitality industry is incredibly demanding, and you can definitely plan on not having traditional holidays with loved ones. Those holidays will take the back seat to your workplace and you will need to create different days to celebrate those special days with loved ones.
That being said, I have been in the hospitality industry since my parents had a deli in high school, (37 years go), and my culinary career has morphed from restaurants to now I am a holistic personal chef who has published a healthy eating recipe book.
The sky is the limit with you cn do with your passion for cooking. It all depends on how far you want to go and how much work you wan to put in to things. Also, if you plan on having a family life, make sure your partner understands your passion and be honest and clear with that person and yourself what your goals are.
