Vineeth’s Answer

There are several courses both theory and practical and depending on which level of education you choose to embark on those classes will alter slightly. Most nurses will cover a wide array of materials from math and chemistry to psychology and physiology. Other nurses will specialize in particular fields and choose electives based on pediatrics, oncology, or geriatrics.

common courses that an RN will see throughout their academic career
• Introduction to Psychology
• Physiology
• Nursing Fundamentals
• Microbiology
• Gerontology
• Psychology and Mental Health
• Pharmacology
• Women and Infant Health
• Leadership Management
• Ethics in Nursing
• Community and Environmental Nursing
• Care Transitions
• Population Health
• Clinical Theory
• Clinical Study

Mary Beth’s Answer

I would tell any high school student looking for a nursing education to take science and biology classes, chemistry is also good. These will help your first couple years of undergrad classes be much easier. Speaking more than one language is also helpful. Then get the best grades you can, because admission to nursing programs is very competitive these days.

If you have a particular school in mind, go online and look at its admission process and basic requirements. Meet those for sure, but add as many science/phycology type classes as you can.

Best of luck!
