Not really. They will teach you to prepare their menu items, their way. With the emphasis on speed, they tend to have specialized roles - one person on fries, one on cash register, etc. You will learn more about cooking at a diner (IHOP, Denny's) or at a restaurant.

Nooooooo. At best, you will learn to work clean and as an efficient part of a team. But if you want to learn to actually cook, a fast food joint is not the place to go.
If you are hesitant about jumping into a busy, higher end restaurant, chain restaurants like Ruby Tuesday will teach you to actually cook and handle raw protein. But don't do that, take a leap, go big and try out for a job where you think you might be in over your head. Sometimes that's when we grow the most.
