Leïla’s Answer

Hi Jessica,

First of all, congratulations on your degree. You can of course find a job in accounting. I would highly recommend you focus on getting experience in the accounting field (via ways of internships or entry level jobs for instance). I would also advise you join some young professionals association dedicated to accountants. That will allow you to grow your network, and thus expand your opportunities.

Good luck!

Robert’s Answer

Hi Jessica,

Yes, you can get a job in accounting with it as your minor. The path to a full time position will likely be different than if it was your major. I would recommend you get some experience with a temporary agency that places people in short term positions. This could give you an opportunity to apply what you have learned, get some experience for your resume or CV and get you introduced to a company. Another suggestion is to take on a role in a volunteer or other organization as a treasurer or in another financial role. All of these options will give you some good experiences to demonstrate your capabilities.

Good luck.

Cassandra’s Answer

It is possible, but more difficult! You will want to pursue outside certifications if you do not complete a degree in accounting. You will also want to seek out internships in accounting that may help open doors for you
