Beyond having a vision, it is very important how you organize yourself on a daily basis! I´m always surprised, how little attention many people pay to this and subsequently struggle in this regards (forgetting tasks or move them from one day to another, again and again). For me personally the "Getting Things Done (GTD)" principles worked out best - you will find plenty of books about it and there are tons of apps which support you to strucutre yourself this way. This specifically becomes important if you get a job with a huge load of tasks and projects and it is important to keep an eye on timelines ... GTD works for your private life (and associated tasks and duties) as well.

I would say your teachers are the best place to start. Speaking from my own experience, my teachers and professors were the greatest assets in helping me achieve my goals. I spoke to several of my teachers at various points in my schooling, and some were more helpful than others. If I had questions about important decisions regarding colleges or what classes to take, they were more than willing to help me decide the best path to choose. They were also vital in helping me identify potential issues that could come up with the path(s) I chose.
