Tess’s Answer
Hello Emily,
I am currently working towards making a career in animal training and am doing so by interning at different facilities. I am focusing on marine mammals so this is from my perspective.
I believe that in the future the animal training field will continue to grow since although people have different views on animals in captivity, I do not believe we will ever live in a world without animals under human care who rely on trainers to stay mentally and physically active, fed, and taken care of.
From my searches for jobs Dennis is right, some facilities only require a High School diploma but many require a bachelors degree. If you want to be in this field I wish you luck in the future. We need passionate people to help with all the animals under our care.
