Estelle’s Answer

Salary depends on how hard you are willing to work and your specialty. Surgical specialties tend to generate more income, but primary care physicians can make great salaries, especially if they use physician extenders to care for more patients in their practice.

geny’s Answer

Over my lifetime, and I was born in 1930, I have met many doctors. Many of my friends were doctors. In my youth, the doctor in my village was lucky to get paid for a home visit with a bag of potatoes or a chicken after spending a whole night with a sick patient. Today doctors get paid between $100.00 to $250.00 an hours.
I remember My PhD friend F..A... in Ottawa Canada, 45 years ago, complaining that plumbers were better paid than he was. He was right.FA spoke 8 languages BTW.
The biggest cost for you as a future Medic is the cost of your education. Start saving every dime you can get now if you are in high school.
Good luck. geny h

Rachel’s Answer

There is great variability in what doctors make. Some specialties are reimbursed better than others. Typically procedural fields allow for higher income these days, but that may change.

Depends on subspecialty and location.

Bo’s Answer

There are numerous factors that determine the income of a physician including specialty and location. Additional, factors are based on insurance reimbursement and guidelines known as reasonable and customary. The doctor can not do whatever s/he wants or charge whatever monetary sum desired. Does the doctor have a solo or group practice? There is overhead such as rent for office space, electric, phone, internet, equipment, supplies and salary for staff. Other expenses include licensing, malpractice insurance and continuing education.
Your question is like asking what does a car or house cost? There are a variety of ranges.
I would suggest exploring different careers that align with your interest, likes and abilities and not focusing on potential income.
