You will be the most helpful in a setting you feel the most passionate about. There's no one answer, patients need caring nurses no matter where they are. The key is to find a specialty that you love.

Hi Michelle,

Your desire and passion to help people is a great gift alot of people don't have. That is the first skill you need in either nursing or medicine. Nursing has soo many areas to work in from working in a school clinic to working for an insurance company. You just have to find which one you feel more passionate about. It's also good to know your strengths. What are you good at. What area seems more interesting to you. And lastly I would say once you know what area you might be interested in, find someone that works with that patient population and shadow them. Ask questions. Sometimes you never fully know until you try it out.
