Christy’s Answer

Many, many colleges now offer game design courses.

Three places to highly consider that specialize in game design are:

Digipen (Seattle, WA)

SMU Guildhall (Dallas/Plano, TX)

Full Sail (Winter Park, FL)

Shane’s Answer

Something to keep in mind when picking a school is where you want to work after you graduate. I graduated from Full Sail but there were not as many opportunities in the Central Florida area(There might be more now as that was many years ago). I ultimately ended up moving to California where there were more gaming positions available.

Also look at the companies around the schools to see if they offer internships while in college. It's a great way to network and possibly land a position right out of school.

Shane recommends the following next steps:

Look at what each school has to offer and where they are located for your future after school.
Check out the companies around the school if you plan on staying in that area after you graduate.
Check out companies that offer internships in the area of video games you are interested in.
