keerthana, I’m not sure if my answer will address your question but I feel like my point is relevant to you.

Most people that have never dealt with mental illness or had a mental health crisis do not understand that not all scars are visible. They believe it cannot be that bad.

When they see blood they can conceptualize the pain and can respond accordingly. However, most cannot respond that similar way with anxiety, panic attack, ptsd are not visible the same way.

So simple answer would be with patience and an open mind. You need to slow down and you cannot put yourself in their situation. You can try to understand but you can’t apply what they are going through.

You can’t conceptualize the triggers or the response to those triggers. It’s not something they want to have happen to them. Some don’t even like talking about it.

Luckily now days the stigma has been removed for the most part. Even the most manly of men feel slightly more comfortable to raise their hand and say it.

Now be patient and understand you can’t see the scars so don’t assume.
